Co-Founder & President

Christopher Mendoza, a co-founder of LMWA, has a background in corporate finance, small business operations, and tech entrepreneurship. Chris is passionately devoted to the firm’s mission to help families achieve their essential and aspirational goals. As President and Chief Investment Officer of LMWA, Chris has assembled a team that can deliver high-quality service across LMWA’s service lines, and he has the background and expertise to create structured solutions for multi-dimensional wealth management issues.

Besides LMWA, Chris also co-founded a financial technology startup, Factor Technologies. As Factor Tech’s Chief Operating Officer, he was awarded one of the world’s few patents for the selection and weighting of investment securities. Factor Tech used its intellectual property to create global stock market indexes designed to provide the opportunity to outperform and serve as the methodologies for a suite of exchange-traded funds. Factor Tech also developed an automated saving and investing platform geared for millennial women, an under-served segment of the population.

In 2004, Chris earned his stripes as a small business owner in San Diego. He helped his wife transform her family business, into a leading provider of Chinese language, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math for children (CL + STEAM). Their company has become an institution in San Diego, in every sense of the term, and has enriched the lives of thousands of people.

Chris began his career as a financial analyst, in 2000, with the Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he worked in multiple departments in various functional roles, including program cost management, new business development, and estimating. He also worked as a senior analyst in business operations management. Chris provided direct program management support for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) and the F-22 Stealth Fighter, among others. His engineering and business experience brought him into all aspects of operations, including legal and compliance, human resources, treasury, engineering, and project management, where he ensured timely completion of program milestones.

Chris earned his MBA, concentrating in International Business and Finance, from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in 2003. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Economics in 2000.

Since 2004, Chris has lived in San Diego with his wife, Jing Jing. They are raising their multi-lingual children, Oliva (3rd grade) and Osric (21 months, going on 21 years) to live life full-STEAM ahead.
